Accessibility

This site is built to be usable by everybody. Where it falls short, we want to know.

What we have done

  • Every page works from the keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline that is never removed.
  • Colour is never the only way information is conveyed.
  • Text contrast meets WCAG 2.2 AA throughout.
  • The site respects your operating system's reduce motion setting: with it on, animations do not run and the 3D scene on the homepage is not loaded at all.
  • Content is never hidden behind JavaScript. With scripting disabled the whole site still reads.
  • Images carry alternative text, and decorative images are correctly hidden from screen readers.

Where it is imperfect

Photographs uploaded by staff depend on staff writing good alternative text. We prompt for it, but we cannot guarantee it.
