Who we are, why we started, and what we are trying to change.
Why we exist
ITeach Inc. was founded in Louisville in 2018 on a simple observation: the cost of getting started in technology is the single biggest thing standing between a lot of our neighbours and a career that pays.
A bootcamp in this city runs into thousands of dollars. A season of youth soccer, with kit and fees and travel, runs into hundreds. For a lot of families in South Louisville, that settles the question before it is asked.
So we removed the cost. Not reduced it — removed it.
What we do
We run two academies and an after-school program.
The Computer Academy teaches a full IT curriculum, from turning a computer on for the first time through to sitting a CompTIA exam. Courses are à la carte, so somebody can take exactly what they came for.
The Soccer Academy is free coaching, free kit and real match play, with no tryouts. Everybody who turns up plays.
The After-School Program is a weekly computer class and homework support for students from Kindergarten through 8th grade.
How it is paid for
By donors, by grants and by volunteers giving their evenings. Not by families.
